As a part of the 2025 Public Power Week (PPW) celebration, Guam Power Authority (GPA) continued its tradition of organizing community-focused events to support local non-profit organizations. This year, one of the PPW community initiatives included a Food Drive to help fill the food pantries at Catholic Social Services Guam. GPA employees hosted the month-long food drive from Wednesday, October 1, 2025 through Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
Generous canned food contributions from CCU Commissioners, GPA Executive Management, employees, energy partners and customers resulted in more than 2,800 non-perishable food items gathered for Catholic Social Services Guam. Items such as canned meats, canned poultry, canned vegetables, canned fruits, condiments, beans, pastas, rice, snacks, coffee grounds and shelf-stable milk were among the items donated during the drive.
GPA's Outreach Committee met on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 to sort and pack all food donations. The following day, Thursday, October 30, 2025, members of the Outreach Committee along with T&D and Facilities division, loaded the boxes in trucks and delivered the donations to Catholic Social Services Guam in Barrigada.
At GPA, we remain committed to the #PowerToServe our local community. Our team is grateful for the opportunity to support such a worthwhile cause such as helping Catholic Social Services Guam to fill their food pantries so they may continue to do their good work of feeding individuals and families in need.
