Guam Power Authority visited the 2nd grade students of Adacao Elementary School on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, to deliver their Energy-Efficiency and Conservation Presentation along with a live bucket truck demonstration. The presentation and demonstration were delivered by the GPA Communications and Transmission & Distribution (T&D) divisions.
GPA Communications staff debuted a new Energy IQ presentation that featured the Monster Detective Collective in partnership between the American Public Power Association (APPA) and Milepost. It is a joint project, with APPA offering the programs to its member utilities.
Through the Energy IQ presentation, the students were taught different types of energy sources (renewable and non-renewable), how power gets to their homes, how to be energy efficient, and ways to conserve energy. Students also engaged in a fun Eye Spy Energy activity where they identified items that were using energy, which items consumed the most energy, and how to conserve.
After the presentation, students gathered outside for a live hybrid bucket truck demonstration. GPA's new hybrid bucket truck was used for the student demonstration. The T&D line workers introduced the different types of tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) they use, the importance of electrical safety, as well as parts and proper use of a bucket truck. In addition, students were eager to watch as the linemen ascended the bucket trucks, demonstrating how high up they would have to go when working on power lines.
