During the classroom presentations, GPA HR’s Personnel Specialist IV, Luana Meno discussed the various careers, internships and apprenticeship programs that are offered at GPA.  She was joined by Victor Torres, SPORD Engineer III who delivered a brief STEM Kit demonstration which showcased two types of renewable energy.   To close the classroom presentation, Generation personnel John V. Reyes, Plant Superintendent (A), Cabras 1 & 2, O&M along with Paul J. Munoz, Plant Operator III provided students with insights on a career in Generation.  The Generation team also brought a graphic video display which demonstrated to students how steam generation works.

The second part of the event held outdoors in the school courtyard offered students an opportunity to learn about a career as a lineworker. The T&D team led by Jacob Gumataotao, Line Electrician Leader along with Jason Castro, Meter Electrician II; Cecilia Evangelista, Apprentice; and Kevin Aguigui, Line Electrician II discussed their duties and responsibilities as lineworkers and demonstrated how to use their personal protective equipment (PPEs).  The T&D team demonstrated how to properly ascend a bucket truck and also provided a hot-dog demonstration on electrical safety which showed students the harmful effects electricity causes on human skin without the use of safety gear.  To wrap-up the static display demonstrations, the Communications Office discussed energy efficiency/conservation tips with the students, especially highlighting the ongoing “Beat the Peak” campaign.

AJMS students ranging from grades 6th through 8th grade that visited the GPA static display received GPA promotional items.
