In celebration of Public Power Week, Guam Power Authority held an Energy related Halloween Door Decorating contest for elementary and middle school homeroom classes. Energy science, especially energy efficiency and conservation, are key elements of science education standards in K-12 curricula. GPA presented a fun challenge to students to come up with creative, energy-related classroom door decorations to help promote energy conservation and efficiency.
The winning decorated homeroom doors received energy related prizes and treat bags. We received six entries with the following schools and grades:
- D.L. Perez Elementary School, 2nd grade, Ms. Janica Manabat
- Santa Barbara Catholic School, 4th grade, Ms. Joyce Guevara
- Saint Anthony Catholic School, 4th grade, Ms. Brendaline Savella
- Jose Rios Middle School, 7th grade, Ms. Colleen Flores
- Saint Anthony Catholic School, 7th grade, Ms. Elena Castigador
- F.B. Leon Guerrero Middle School, 8th grade, Ms. Francine Cruz
D.L. Perez Elementary, 2nd grade, Ms. Manabat’s class was our elementary school entry winner.
F.B. Leon Guerrero Middle School, 8th grade, Ms. Cruz’s class was both the middle school entry winner and the People’s Choice Award category winner.
