2025 Public Power Week Shoe Drive

Outreach/Event Date: 10/30/2025
Donation Drive

As a part of the 2025 Public Power Week (PPW) celebration, Guam Power Authority (GPA) continued its tradition of organizing community-focused events to support local non-profit organizations. For the first time, GPA’s Public Power Week featured a New Shoe & Slipper Drive, collecting brand-new footwear for children and teens residing in local shelters and foster care homes.  The drive was held from Wednesday, October 1, 2025 through Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

Through the generosity of the CCU Commissioners, GPA Executive Management, employees, energy partners and customers, the shoe and slipper drive gathered over 500 pairs of brand-new shoes, slippers, and backpacks for the children and teenagers of Alee Children's Shelter and Harvest House. Shoe donations ranged from toddler sizes to teen sizes, ensuring that youth from all ages are covered.

GPA's Outreach Committee met on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 to sort and pack all shoe donations.  The following day, Thursday, October 30, 2025, members of GPA's Outreach Committee along with the T&D and Facilities Divisions, loaded boxes in trucks and delivered the donations to their designated local non-profit organizations. The team first delivered donations to Alee Children's Shelter officials at Catholic Social Services in Barrigada. They then proceeded to Harvest House, where they delivered the remaining shoes, slippers and backpack donations, closing out this collective effort to support and bring brighter days to our island's foster children in need.
