On Friday, February 28, 2025, GPA participated in the FB Leon Guerrero Middle School (FBLGMS) Science Expo by demonstrating its Renewable Energy STEM kits and illustrating and explaining safety and electricity to the middle school students ranging from 6th to 8th grade.
T&D Linemen discussed electrical safety and the importance of personal protective equipment (PPEs) when working with electricity. Students were reminded not to approach power lines, and to report down lines to GPA and always practice safety when handling their electronic devices. Equipped with their safety gear, the linemen showcased a hot dog experiment and demonstrated the effects of electrical current on a person’s skin when not wearing the proper safety gear.
SPORD Engineers discussed the different types of renewable energy and demonstrated how renewable energy works using solar and wind STEM kits. Communications personnel discussed energy efficiency and conservation tips along with the “Beat the Peak” campaign.
