As a part of the 2024 Public Power Week (PPW) celebration, Guam Power Authority (GPA) continued its tradition of organizing community-focused events to support local non-profit organizations. This year, one of the PPW community initiatives included a Food Drive to help fill the food pantries of The Salvation Army Guam. GPA employees hosted the month-long food drive from September 18 until October 18, 2024.
Food donation contributions from GPA and GWA Executive Management, employees and energy partners totaled over 2,827 food items for The Salvation Army Guam.
Items such as canned meats, canned poultry, canned vegetables, canned fruits, condiments, beans, pastas, rice, snacks, coffee grounds and shelf-stable milk were among the items donated during the drive.
On Thursday, October 24, 2024, GPA Management and employees along with our energy partner MEC presented the donated canned good and other non-perishable food items to Major Eric Tumale, Major Jasiel Tumale and staff at the GPA Fadian Office. The food donation boxes were then loaded into The Salvation Army trucks bound for its food pantries in Tiyan.
