On Monday, April 21, 2025, the Guam Power Authority (GPA) Transmission and Distribution (T&D) line crew delivered and read aloud "If I Were a Lineworker" illustration books to the students at PC Lujan Elementary School in honor of National Lineman Appreciation Day. A total of 121 students participated in the read-aloud and demonstration activities.
The headstart, kindergarten, and 1st grade students of PC Lujan Elementary school listened attentively as the lineworkers read aloud the illustrated book "If I Were a Lineworker". The book highlighted the various tasks lineworkers perform, such as working on power lines, trimming trees, and restoring power after storms.
Following the read-aloud, students gathered at the back field for a bucket truck demonstration. The T&D Linemen introduced the different types of tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) they use, the importance of electrical safety, as well as parts and proper use of a bucket truck. In addition, students were eager to watch as the linemen ascended the bucket trucks, demonstrating how high up they would have to go when working on power lines.
After the demonstration, PC Lujan Elementary School gave GPA T&D Lineworkers Ray E. Torres, Ryan J. Hattori, Chad N. Fernandez, Joseph A. Pereda, Damon K. Hocog, Nathan Quinata, and Brandon Mesa certificates of appreciation. #thankalineman
